Two mechanics amplified the dip. First, long liquidations spiked once price slipped under ~$121.5K—data trackers show hundreds of millions in positions flushed within hours, which tends to push price lower in a feedback loop. Second, the U.S. dollar edged higher on the day (a mild headwind for risk assets), adding pressure just as momentum faded.
Context still leans supportive medium-term. Spot Bitcoin ETF inflows remain very strong—around $1.2B net just yesterday (Oct 6), and a record weekly haul into early October—so structural demand hasn’t vanished; today’s pullback looks more like digestion than a macro turn.
Levels traders are watching: Holding ~$121.1K keeps the uptrend intact; lose it and $118.5K is the first deeper downside magnet. Reclaiming and closing above ~$124.6K would put the highs back in play.
